As some of you may know, I've been battling Stage IV Breast Cancer which has metastisized to the bone. I recently had surgery to repair my hip and pelvic bones which will allow me to walk again. I have not been able to drive or walk since April as the bone cancer knocked my femur out of its joint. I haven't been working since May and probably will be forced into early retirement as I've lost some use of my right hand and won't be able to walk for nine months.

Lots of changes in my future, but I promise to get the blog going strong once the dust settles..

7. Sharing SVG files and inspirational cards and layouts on my blog with my friends (and those friends I haven't met yet) through my blog.
8. Creating homemade gifts through my machine embroidery and seeing the smiles and sometimes tears of joy it creates warms my heart!
9. Scrapbooking my family photos and stories and leaving a legacy to my children to pass to their children and seeing the smiles after I've finished a new page.
10. Spending time with nature hiking, camping, fishing and seeing God's wonders.

Wow, sorry I haven't posted in so long. Life kind of got in the way. Besides losing my assignment at work the week before Xmas, I had to move all my office stuff home. So it's stacked to the ceiling until I can find another permanent assignment. Then my 17 y.o. DGD had brain surgery on Xmas Eve, so I went to NV to help watch the younger DGD while my DD and DSIL spent 5 days waiting in intensive care hoping she would get discharged soon. Things are much better now. But this weekend my DD called to say her stepmom passed unexpectedly, so she was off to prepare for a funeral.

Okay, so I decided to go to CHA at the last minute with a friend. We got there kinda late, but oh, my, there are so many wonderful things coming out this year. I'm sure you all heard about the cake machine Provocraft is coming out with. Wonderful. I got to talk to the husband of Linda Mc Clure, who was the stimulus for Provocraft creating this machine. (Sorry I forgot his name) She does awesome work! The cakes on display were astounding! He told me of a client that wore her grandmother's wedding dress and wanted her cake to copy the lace. And they did just that. Can you imagine how personal that would be? What a great opportunity to start a business creating wedding cakes, etc.

Then I moved on to find Your Story, the Provocraft binding system. I purchased this machine in early December and never could find album covers to do Xmas presents. They were always sold out. Almost thought I made a mistake buying this machine. Then this weekend the Provocraft demonstrator tells me all the new stuff they're coming out with this Spring. There will be cardstock album covers that you can use in your embossing machine and much cheaper than the albums they have so far. And they're also coming out with just the strip of glue, so you'll be able to use your own cardstock or anything else for that matter. The cost of creating albums is going to be very competitive with the other binding products out there. I am chomping at the bit for this now! Drooling!

CHA had too much to see and not enough time! Next year it will be even bigger. They're talking about moving to Los Angeles to make it more central and getting a bigger venue. Can't wait.

Hopefully this spring I will be creating lots with the new stuff coming out. Keep posted! I promise I'll have new stuff once life gets back to normal.

My Western scrap layout page

Well, finally scrapped my 17 y.o. baby's page! Whew! And I just love it. Font is called Western font (free d/l here on Dafont.com). So many times I thought I would start this and gave up. This time it was well thought out and went together quickly. Notice I even cut barbed wire from a freebie someone gave (sorry I don't remember who it was).

Father's Day & Graduation cards

Got these cards done quickly as I'm leaving for Roswell, NM to see my dad for Father's Day. It's a surprise! Sent him this card with the notation "hope it's memorable" Can't wait to see his face when he sees me pull up in the motor home!

Also made this grad card with my own SCAL design. I got tired of cards with caps and decided to make a more feminine flair for a friend's daughter.

Hope to make some alien SB pages when I get back! Hmmmmm? LOL. I'm having too much fun with my Cricut.

New card - old friend moving away

This card created with my own design, double lace paper ribbon on SCAL, computer generated words, the purse from Mickey & Friends, 4 layers of cs instead of chipboard, and cuttlebug and gems on the purse. Oh, yeah, the glitter is actually purple, but shows blue here.

An old girlfriend is moving far away. Couldn't find sentiments to fit this situation and I remembered an email someone sent me on Mother's Day about the women in your life, and it seemed to fit exactly! A lot happens in a long friendship as ours; she's on husband #4, I had two babies that are now teens and coming up on adulthood real quick ;o). It's been an interesting journey between the two of us. I'll so miss her.

The inside didn't photo very well. Here's the verse:

Time passes, life happens, distance separates, children grow up, jobs come and go, love waxes and wanes, men come and go, hearts break, careers end, but girlfriends are there, no matter how much time and how many miles are between you. A girlfriend is never farther away than needing her can reach. When you have to walk that lonesome valley, and you have to walk it by yourself, the women in your life will be on the valley's rim, cheering you on, praying for you, pulling for you, intervening on your behalf, and waiting with open arms at the valley's end.

Sometimes they will even break the rules and walk beside you, or come in and carry you out.

Girlfriends are always just a phone call away!

Inkskape and SCAL

Spring break and both boys are gone for the week, so looks like I have plenty of play time. Ya-hoo! I'm a proud owner of a Cricut Create and learning so much so soon. I downloaded Inkscape and been playing with it with great success. Next step is SCAL. It's a gotta have and seems so easy to create files. Never mind the Wishblade I had for years and couldn't figure out, couldn't get it loaded, unloaded, working right. Hope to have some of my own free SVG files up soon. So keep coming back.
